Reinventing the Publishing Workflow: Proven Success
Much like the rest of the publication and printing industry, recent economic challenges were pressuring a large multi-title publisher to re-evaluate its on-site creative and production operation resources. After years of continuing to keep work in-house and a continuous cycle of re-investment in hardware and software, the publisher was interested in reducing costs and speed-to-market without sacrificing quality or content integrity.

After a period of Discovery to assess the publisher’s workflow, technology systems and production needs, Smash Studio designed a streamlined workflow process and organization structure accepted by the publisher. After re-badging selected design, image editing and production resources from the publisher, Smash Studio implemented a new workflow process which included each of those disciplines. Additionally, Smash Studio would develop, redesign and produce unique digital magazine products for the publishing company thus allowing them to expand their core product line. These aforementioned processes were based on fixed page rates per process while maintaining the publisher’s branding per title.
By partnering closely with the publishers editorial department and corporate administration, the Smash Studio Team has created a highly efficient workflow and favorable working partnership. Smash Studio has also leveraged its own creative and production team to save the publisher 30% in annual costs and continues to do so.
